MR. PEDRO GUAZO
Chief Executive Officer and Representative of the UN Secretary-General, United Nations Global Pension Fund
Mr. Pedro Guazo is the CEO and Representative of the UN Secretary-General at the United Nations Global Pension Fund Investment Office in New York since March 2020. He is responsible for managing a portfolio of almost $100 billion and has been recognized as one of the most responsible institutional investors in the world.
Previously, he was the Finance Director of the UN in New York for almost eight years. He managed a portfolio of over $10 billion, with annual revenues of $13 billion. He led the Organization’s financial operations in virtually every country in the world.
Before joining the UN in 2012, he held a similar position for more than two years as Finance and Treasury Director at the United Nations World Food Programme in Rome, managing a $4 billion portfolio and $12 billion in revenues, overseeing finance teams in over 75 country offices.
During a 15-year banking career, he contributed to the modernization of the Mexican Financial System while serving as an auditor, regulator, supervisor, and development banker. As Finance Director and Treasurer at the Sociedad Hipotecaria Federal (SHF), he negotiated and managed loans from the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. Similarly, he promoted financial inclusion among low- and middle-income individuals as Finance Director and Treasurer of the Banco del Ahorro Nacional y Servicios Financieros (BANSEFI). His government service included positions at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit and the National Banking and Securities Commission. While a student, he began his professional career at PwC.
