DIRECTOR, ETFSA PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
Nerina Visser is an investment and financial market veteran offering consulting, advisory and wealth management services to a broad range of clients. She is a specialist in exchange-traded investment products (ETPs), a financial advisor, and a consultant within the investment industry across Africa. Her consulting work covers a broad spectrum across financial market training, advisory work on capital market development, benchmark indices, and executive coaching and mentorship to industry professionals. She is also a director of the etfSA Portfolio Management Company, where she oversees the management of specialist investment portfolios of ETPs for a broad range of clients. She is the Presidents Council Representative for the Middle East and Africa region of CFA Institute and the former president of CFA Society South Africa. She serves as chairperson of the ASISA ETF Standing Committee, as a member of the JSE Issuer Regulation Advisory Committee and its Index Advisory Committee. She also serves as a member of the CFA Institute Annual Conference Advisory Council and as a member of the ETF Product Advisory Committee for the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), amongst many other industry advisory roles across Africa. She is a regular market commentator in the media, host of the ETF Investor podcast, and a seasoned speaker at conferences, seminars and workshops, in South Africa, throughout Africa and on the global stage.
Nerina holds a BSc in Mathematical Statistics and Applied Mathematics from the University of Stellenbosch, an MBA specialising in Finance from the Stellenbosch Graduate School of Business and is a CFA charterholder. Some of her accomplishments include being recognised by the Financial Mail in their Analyst of the Year Awards in the categories of Quantitative Analysis, Risk Management and Innovative Research, including the top-rated quant in 2006. In 2010, Nerina was recognized by CEO Magazine as one of the Most Influential Women in Business and Government in the Financial Services (Banking) category in South Africa, and in 2018 she was awarded the Volunteer of the Year in the EMEA region by CFA Institute. More recently, she received the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award from the CFA Institute for her services to the global investment industry.
